This was my submission for the annual local art event: Interpret Durban 2015.
The brief was to create a cover for the jumbo Lion Safety Matches box, under the theme of "Food and Fire."
When I thought of how I can portray the relationship between food and fire, I imagined Fire being a humble servant, magically transforming ingredients and bringing food to the people. Since this project was Durban based, the food had to be a steaming bowl of curry!
(Curry is a local and signature dish found in Durban)
The colours I chose was to stay in tune with the Lion Safety Matches logo, and use complementary colours to create contrast.
